More combined posts. Thanks, everyone, by the way, for the suggestions so far...
Quote from: Mike Holmes
(You gotta do it like Versailles, though. The Physical layout alone makes for an interesting element. IIRC, only Loius XIV and those he wanted to speak with were given horses. Others were not allowed to ride on the estate. This way, given the extensive size of the place, he could go to the Courtiers he wanted to address, and not be pestered by those he did not. If you've never been to Versailles, I highly recommend seeing it first hand if you have a chance. Wow. Impressive even by modern American standards.)
Never been there, but I played in a Changeling game with strong court intrigue elements set in Paris, and the Changeling court met in Versailles at night, when it was closed. (It helped that the local vampire Prince, a Toreador, liked Changelings.) So the GM (who had been there IRL) dragged out the big coffee-table books and maps, and even on paper it was pretty impressive. I agree -- it's the perfect setting. (In fact, IIRC, we murdered one of our rivals in the deeper parts of the hedges... and my redcap ate the body.)
So, short version: Yes, excellent suggestion. ;-)

rent Ridicule.
Seen it. Loved it. Especially that first scene. I should probably watch it again, I'm glad you reminded me.
Thanks again for all the suggestions!

This sourcebook for
Mage : the Sorcerer's Crusade
should fullfill your expectations.
Despite its title, it is focused on High Intrigue and is full of good advices and archetypes.
This book gave me a lot of ideas and matter to begin designing a competitive storytelling card game based on Shakespearian Court Intrigues.
