Hi Nero's Boot,

I've been thinking about your concept a little bit, and I think it is workable. Your main problem is your Humanity definition, I think. Unless you simply want to play around with the Sorcerer dice system, this is where you need to put your focus and your energy right now. Do you own Sorcerer's Soul? Read chapter one, then jump to chapters four and five. Compare them to the mini supplements you've been reading.

Humanity would be one's ability to resist transformation into your ship's AI programming subroutines, in essence becoming a disembodied piece of software.

How is this not just reducing Humanity to be some kind of general Saving Throw? IMAGinES asked you what sort of things would cause you to make Humanity rolls in your setting. It is a question that desperately needs to be answered. I don't think "it comes entirely from sorcery" is a valid answer.

You have the power to transcend everything: The human race itself, sanity, limitation, and emotional weakness.  But that's just it: Should you use such power?  Is it right to act as a god to countless alien species you'll encounter out there in the void?  Is it right to ascend and become something unrecognizable to the common man?  Is the power these ships offering worth the pricetag they're asking of you?

But this is something entirely different than defining Humanity simply as the ability to resist a demon. These are great questions! They are not Humanity as Saving Throw. You are talking about Humanity as recognizing the value of life; Humanity as seeing yourself as an equal to your fellow beings! So once you start playing god with the species of the universe you loose humanity. Now you have the beginning of a useful Humanity definition. Work from that, following the instructions in Sorcerer's Soul.

What do you think?

All the best,

/Peter
