Gamicon -- Iowa City

I'll be attending a local convention called
Gamicon
. It's in Iowa City, my old college town, a home away from home to me. The con runs Friday, February 24 through Sunday February 26. I have not previously attended. I tried to go last year but my car broke down! Argh! (All was not lost, I spent my time waiting for a tow re-reading and finally "getting" The Shadow of Yesterday at a truck stop).
I'll be running Dust Devils and Nine Worlds. I do not yet know what times my games will run. I may also be heading up a seminar. I also plan to promote indie RPGs any way I can!
If you're in the area (lookin' at you, CHRIS MOORE!), consider joining the activities on Saturday, February 25.

Oh! I should clarify -- I'll be playtesting the newly revised Dust Devils rules at the con! Should be lots o' fun. The game remains fundamentally the same, but I've updated a lot of the elements. I'm really excited about the new changes.

I'll see what I can do to sell the convention to some of my friends. We aren't too far away, and inhabitants of Mount Vernon are always looking for something to do.

Intergalactic Cooking Challenge
is pretty slick. Also of note is the

Chris is going to be there and i hope to be there with him. we were both there last year when you, Matt, had that car problem. since your arrival was prevented we had no other real points of interest at the con. we checked out the merchants then split to the Village In. truly, it was a tragic tale. i hope i can manage to attend. i hope we all make it.

Hi Matt~ i'm looking forward to getting in on your sessions @ Gamicon. the Gamicon site says that you are running a Nine Worlds session in Slot-3 -&- a Dust Devils session in Slot-5. *unfortunately* the good folks of Gamicon have not published the times indicated by the abstract tags Slot-1, 2, 3, etc. i was hopeing that you could tell me just when on Saturday Slots 3 & 5 were, hour wise that is. thanks ~michael~ [ps]~ safe travels.

OOPS!~ never mind. since i have a hard time reading longish material off of a moniter i had printed out the schedule & read the pages that way the times were off the paper & the spacing didn't seem strange.
today i thought i would look the page over again [on screen]. tah-dah! there the hourly breakdown was! so i just jotted the times down from the screen.
see you there.

Hey, Matt and other Forgites going to this con...
Anyone interested in visiting/chatting/pick-up gaming after the Nine World's session (which ends at 12:30pm?) I might not be able to stay for the evening session, and I'd like to get in as much indie-gaming / talk as I can before I have to go!

Yes, absolutely. That is, in fact, what I hoped to do. I have a session from 8 a.m. to roughly noon. Then, I planned on either eating at the Union (ugh, there's nostalgia I don't need to rekindle) or heading up the hill to downtown and getting some lunch, chatting with new pals for a while. I'm willing to go most anywhere, but I recognize that pocketbooks may suggest otherwise! We can return to the con after lunch, or just hang out. Then, back to the con for my 6 p.m. - 10 p.m. session of Dust Devils.
