I'll be running Blood Opera in the 6:30pm slot at Recess VIII: Planet of the Nerds, NerdNYC's (roughly) quarterly day-long-con-in-the-city.

Stop by and be maimed!
Winning gives birth to hostility.
Losing, one lies down in pain.
The calmed lie down with ease,
having set winning & losing aside.

...and because I'm a tosser, I spelt the fucking game's name wrong. Shite.

Everything about the game, from the mechanics, to the artwork, to the layout just screams creepy, creepy, creepy at me. I love it.

I'm saving it for GenCon.*

*By which time I might conceivably have finished it, along with the three other things I am working on.

A very fun run of Blood Opera: 4 players, 4 dooms achieved, misery and death all 'round.

I limited myself (as GM) to having a Destiny point for each player and using them exactly as the players would. Aside from playing grandpa, some uncontested scene-framing and rules lubrication, I had no more narrative weight than any of them, and it went swimmingly. For its sheer variety of play from the same starting conditions, Blood Opera is perhaps my favourite one-shot evar.

Details man...  Details.  What kinda crazy shit happened?  Where was the lubrication needed?

Wah, wah, wah, Senkowski.

AP to follow.

I'll be running it again on Thursday for three non-gamers and some more old hands. I think I'm going to replace Gerard with the brothers' mother. The scenario needs a mother's touch.

That sounds like an excellent idea.  Post her up when you finish her.
