Call Me Curly

1. Commence a game of James V. West's The Pool with friends, but without a GM.  Don't figure-out how you will accommodate GM-less play beforehand. Just start playing and every time you need a new rule, stop and hash-out Just That One Rule.  Then continue play.  Revise previous new rules freely, to solve subsequent problems.  Documenting what you invent is optional.

2. Start playing The Pool again. This time with a GM.  But don't use any dice.  Substitute a single deck of ordinary playing cards and improvise rules to accommodate the substitution, on the fly.  Again: create each rule only as the problem necessitating it arises. Resume playing the adventure until you reach another hitch. Don't 'design ahead'.

Lessons learned will be different for each player and each group, but will likely apply to understanding of rpg play in general,
not just to playing The Pool.

(If I may...)

3.  Start playing the Pool, but use a die type other than d6.  Note the impact on the play experience.

Cheers,
Roger
