This thread got my mind turning back again to the idea of a boxed set rpg. I know a coupple of people around here have put out board games and other boxed items. Can anyone give me some broad insight into what goes into this? Especially helpful would be general info on home production of boxes, sources for boxes, and how one could add artwork and writing to boxes on a limited budget.

Hello,

Here are a couple of older threads with patchy but interesting information:
The big box
What does the box cost?

I hope some other folks with experience in this matter can weigh in with substantial, modern information.

In another thread, Jason Morningstar clued us into the idea that these boxes are commonly called "setup boxes".  Google yeilds a zillion places that sell 'em.  Check out the Ray Products site for a bit of a flash animation education on the subject.
