Hello,

This year Dragon*Con is trying to do a kind of showcase for the independent game designers out there. This includes an opening panel to discus the games, play sessions and a follow up panel for feedback and reviews from players. This came out of a panel they hosted last year and is designed to help give independents some exposure. If you're planning on attending Dragon*Con and are interested shoot me a PM or a response here.

I've been thinking about going to Dragon*Con for a couple of years, and this looks pretty interesting. What are your sales options for independent publishers like?

Maybe some background might help. I'm an independent game writer who has been running  games at Dragon*Con for the last few years. This is an attempt to give other independent authors some exposure I really don't know about the sales side of things there. They have a dealers and exhibitors rooms but you would need to check the Dragon*Con site for pricing on that.

Oh, cool. I had assumed you were DC staff representative or something.

Thanks for helping organize this!

This sounds great.  I go every year and run indie stuff and I'd love to see more happening there. So what is official so far and what is planned?  Keep us in the loop.

Tentatively the plan is to have the first panel with some time before Session 2 starts (1 PM) leaving the day from  1 PM on to run games then have the follow up the next day, so sessions 2, 3 and 4. I don't have an exact time when the panels will be other than a tentative before 1 PM. Once you know what you are planning to run submit it as normal but shoot me a PM with the game name and your association with it and I'll include it in the write up that will appear in the pocket program. I forget what the final date is to get things in for the program but as we get closer I'll make sure to include what the final cut off date is.

Session 1?  Is that Thursday?

Also, what games do you represent?  Maybe I've see you there.

Session 1 is typically 9 Am - 1 PM on Friday but  I did not see official times up yet. It's unlikely the panel would be that long, more likely half that to give GMs and potential players time before the games start. I couldn't tell you what the exact time of the first panel will be (still a bit yearly).

As for game's I've run, I've written a game called 6th World past games include: Fall of the Phoenix and Dead Man's Run older games include: Welcome to the Show, Scorched Earth, Desecration, Wanted, Broken Path and In A Sea of Stars.

Is the Indie Games Showcase an "Organization" (second field on the Event Submission form)?

The Organization in the submission field is the company you are representing. The Indie Games Showcase is the event they are part of and will be handled through contacting me with the submission info.

Also, when you email me or PM me through this site I'll let you know about the badges. It's not much but I think presenters for this event will be qualified for a judge/staff badge. I just need to pass the information along.

I just discovered this forum and I'm pleased to see there is some active discussion about Dragon Con. I'm an illustrator and have been showing there for a few years. There seems to be a pretty diverse indie game scene there. I'll be sure to check back here for updates!
