Will there be an 'Indie Map' or 'Indie Passport' this year?  I'm helping organize the Indie Games Explosion and Games on Demand.  If there is such a thing we would love to be included.  Thanks. Scott

I'll probably do one to be passed out at the Forge booth, but not too fancy. And I hope someone volunteers to help with it because I always get slammed with other GenCon prep stuff anyway.

You should understand something important: there is no overarching, guiding organization for the various independent endeavors at GenCon. No committee, no charter, no centralization of any kind. My big answer to you is that if you want to see an indie-map or guide, then make one and use it. Because if someone else does it, that's the only guidance they went by anyway.

Best, Ron

I was very sorry to see this project come undone last year. I have no idea how much practical effect the indie passport really had when it was implemented (in 2007, was it?), but as I myself happen to belong squarely in the target audience, I find it exciting: were I at Gencon solely as audience, I'd love to have some semi-objective, journalistic material to help navigate the mass of opportunities. Were I impressed with this whole "indie" thing and wanted to see more, I'd very much want to have a comprehensive map that helped me make sure I didn't miss any of the good stuff.

(The same goes for other things apart from indie, incidentally. Were anybody to create an "old school passport", for example, I might very well tour that one as well. More focused marketing at Gencon in general would be good in my eyes, as it'd help me find things I normally wouldn't notice there.)

I'm of course very busy myself with Gencon and other things, but if I find at some point that I've nothing to do and nobody's done the passport yet, I'll jump at it then. Anybody decides to take up this task and need help, be sure to ask for it.

I would like to see the indie passport and the old school passport printed together, using the same map.
