Any experiences with FinePrint PDF software?

Has anyone had much play with FinePrint?

It's an alternative to Distiller for making PDFs (in Windows), very inexpensive. There's a lot more control than using something like Ghostscript, but not quite to the full Adobe level (very limited control over what happens to raster images, for instance). It seems like it might be a very useful option for many indie publishers, though.

I've barely had time to fiddle with the trial version. I've found one snag so far that's kind of a big deal for me but may not matter to some others: it doesn't support Type 1 fonts at all - just Truetype.

Anyway, I'm too busy with work right now to give it a really good working-over, so I was just wondering if anyone else had any experiences to share.

And yes, before you ask, this is the first time I've ever posted here, and yes, I registered pretty much to post this one thread :)

I use pdfFactory Pro & FinePrint for inhouse stuff. FP has some nice features to it such as the 'nix graphics' and 'save ink functions'. It's not industry-standard (till maybe Adobe buys them outright) and good for only for ashcan-level printing or less, but it won't make your home printer sweat so much. FP is entry-level publishing but if you're looking to publish at an entry-level, then there you go.
