I have noticed that topic marked read do not stay read for some reason. I cruise the forum, read and marking topics read. Then when all are read, I'll go elsewhere, like say RPGnet to see in any interestuing post have come up, then I come back and see several "new" or unread posts and find that they are the same post I had read earlier. It's kind of odd to find that I had posted an unread post like that.

Yeah. Although I don't use "mark all topics as read," I've noticed quite often that topics after being read are not looking like I've read them.

Ocassionally I will hit the link that takes you to the first unread post of a thread and it will take me to a post that I have already read.  It makes sense to me that the two prblems may be related.

I dunno if they're related. In the old Forge, I sometimes would hit the "new post" link and it would take me to an old post, but I would scroll down and there would be new posts. It generally happened when new posts arrived in a thread that I'd already used the "new post" link on that browsing session, especially when the new posts were on the next "page". But I never experienced the "Mark Read" failing.

Until today. It happened to me just now. Marked everything as read, when to another Forum, came back, saw your post marked as new again, Matt. (That is, it happened to me on this very thread, ironically enough.)

This may be related to the phenomenon that I have where I arrive, see posts marked unread on several fora, post, then go back to the forum list and see everything has been marked read. Or just some things are marked read.

One several occasions I've tested this scientifically. Just because Clinton has said on previous occasions that I was probably just high or something. But damnit if it ain't happening for real. And I'm fairly sure I know whe it happens. Basically, I'm on all day most days. And if I'm posting, and go over a session limit, when I return it's considered a new visit. And you'll note that the marks aren't actually "unread", they're "new since your last visit".

If this is not precisely the problem then I'm sure it's closely related. The unread marks returning may or may not be related, I couldn't say as I don't think I've ever had that problem.
