Just picked up a copy of BW

I managed to find a copy at my local game store (Pandemonium Books is a great little shop). First off, I really liked the packaging and presentation. The two smaller sized books and the interior layout reminds me of something like an almanac, and they are a lot cooler than the text-book like layout of other rpg game books. I also love the fact that the each book is numbered and signed, and comes with a nifty little promo/pagemarker. Great package Luke! For fifteen bucks, it feels like robbery.:)
Difficult to say how well the books will serve as a reference during play, but they are very easy to read and get right to the point. So far, everything is clear and easy to follow. However, I have to say that I am not a huge fan of the overall tone which can get a little too informal at times, and some of the comments about "old school" type of gaming seem out of place (at least for me, since for the most part I can't relate to them). But that is just personal preference, and it doesn't really detract from getting the game information across.
I still have a lot to go through, but would like to know of any important updates, additional info, corrections/revised rules, etc. that I should be aware of. Unfortunately I don't see a game of BW (or TROS which I also just picked up) taking place any time soon. But I wanted to have on hand a couple of good indy designs, as well as start supporting the Forge based talent. And if I do round up a few players, I will certainly take the Wheel for a spin.

hi Al,
Thanks for your interest in the game. I do appreciate your patronage. And it is good to know there are some Forgies in boston. Bean Town is my home town, and Pandemonium has been very good to us, selling quite a few copies. But I haven't got too much feedback from up north. I'll just have to rely on your good taste.
Burning Wheel is a living, breathing and heaving game.
You can check out our forums for all sorts of debates on revisions and house rules in addition to clarifications:

You can check out the main site for official "updates" and news:

Or you can pop right on over to the downloads section to see the latest pdf downloads. Currently there are six new, additional sections to the game posted. Don't need em to play, but they sure are fun!

Enjoy. Come out to a convention if you can. I'll try to run something at Pandemonium if I ever get a tuesday off.

Hi there,
I'll just chime in with a strong vote of Yes Indeed for Pandemonium Books, one of the best game/book stores in the world.
Best,
Ron
