Hello folks,
I am in the process of fine tuning the ol' EAK manuscript and will be adding the new material as I go. I am hoping to get it done before school starts -- so, this is pretty much my project for the next two weeks. So, first problem is initiative.
EAK's initiative is okay, but it does somethings kind of lame... 1) It slows down getting to the actual point of the game. It is another roll that is before the actual ass kicking. 2) It isn't exciting. It is just there, which is okay, but I want something that makes a little more sense within the context of the game.
My initial try will be to revamp Speed & Movement. Movement doesn't do much right now except as a simple gauge to see how far someone can flee. So maybe Movement will become Initiative or some other word for it. In other words, you go in order of your "movement" score - top to bottom. But, you will get to do things like spend some of your hubris to go earlier and possibly even insult people to gain a little edge.
As sort of a barebones overview, does it sound okay? With the insults, it could definitely add some fun to init. Then, init could stay fixed for the entire battle, which would get right to the butt kicking.

It looks like I am going with that change:
Your wizard has three attributes: Agility, Endurance, and Concentration. Your wizard has three derived attributes: Speed (Agility x 3), Life Points (Endurance x 3), and Focus (Concentration x 3).
Speed will be the order in which you act during combat. You will be able to ratchet it up with the Insult rule (optional) and by spending hubris or using magickal items.
Sound good? Good.

I've also made a slight change in character creation -- you now get 35 points to distribute in skills and no skill can go higher than 15 at the start. It should ratchet the power level up a bit.
