Question on Mail Delivery time...
«
on:

I ordered a copy of TRoS last Saturday. My question is: what shipping method is used and how long should i expect to wait. To go to the mail box every day with high hopes that "this will be the day" only to have those hopes dashed and ruined is becoming very stressful... :) Thanks.

If you look past the nastiness,
this thread
summarized shipping type issues pretty thoroughly.

Thanks for the link Ralph. I hope i wasn't coming across as complaining. I just wanted an estimated time frame so i wouldn't feel like i'm being jerked around. I'm just excited to get the book, that's all.
On a side note, is there a way to set up optional overnight or two-day shipping? I don't know what's involved in that kind of thing, but i'd be willing to pay extra for it in the future...

Be patient. We Germans have to wait a lot longer... ;)
I ordered TROS and went on vacation to make the time pass. After two weeks, it was there. *g* And on September 30, I ordered OBAM. I *really* like the pdf-bundle option. :)

Hey Thomas, it's good to see how keen you are :-)
As others have said, the shipping time varies because of the "low priority" the post office gives such mail. I have had reports that books have arrived in as little as 4 days, or as many as three weeks (that was only one case however). Usually it seems to average a little under 2 weeks for mainland US.
One other reason for the variancy - books are shipped the Monday after they're ordered. I got your order on a Saturday, so it went out a couple of days later, but if you order on a Tuesday (as Nero's Boot did I think), then that of course adds a week before it gets shipped. This Monday shipping is how our distrubutor does things, as they distribute for many companies. Again, we're not charging you for it, remember.
As for a fast shipping option, well, I'll suggest it to Jake. I don't see why that couldn't be possible, but it's up to him.
Brian.

Ok, first of all i am complaining. I know it's not your fault Jake and Brian, i just wanted to let you know. Today is the second saturday since my order (12 USPS shipping days). Now it is possible that my order didn't go through until the Monday after i ordered (i ordered on a Saturday).
Anyway, i know that there's not much you can do since you guys don't handle shipping directly. I guess i'd like to make the following offer (tentatively): If you want to work up options for paid shipping get in touch with me (either PM or email me at
lordsmerf@hotmail.com
). I wouldn't mind working the shipping option from my end if you guys can swing it (i don't know what your current setup is), as long as volume isn't too extreme...
Anyway let me know.

Hey Thomas,
The order definately didn't ship until the Momday after you ordered it (that's our distributor's "Driftwood Orders day"), so we're not quite at the two week mark yet. If it hasn't arrived by say, this Tuesday, then PM me and I'll follow up with our shipping guy.
I understand your impatience - I'm exactly the same way; when I order somewthing it's because I want it, and so of course I want it NOW :-)

I'll let you know, but i just want to clarify. The order was made on the morning of October 11 (i think that's the date of whatever Saturday it was). I'm not sure if your shipper processes orders on Saturday or if that would actuall carry over to the
next
Monday (which would be the 18th).
I guess it's just very frustrating since i've become so used to having two or three day (or five tops) waits for mailing stuff. Another thing that i think messes with my head is that if i ordered OBAM i could get the PDF right now and the book whenever it gets here... Oh well. I'll try to keep you posted.

Your order came through on the 11th at 11:28am according to my records. It was forwarded to our distributor that day, and I have no reason to suspect that it wasn't shipped on the 13th (Monday). So, it should arrive next Monday the 27th. As I say, if it's not there by Tuesday, let me know and I'll chase it up with him.

It's a valid point. All I can reiterate is that it's free shipping and free means low priority for your postal service. I guess maybe there should be a paid (and thus faster) shipping option, that's really up to the boss so I will put it past him.
I think this thread has probably outlived it's purpose. If people want to discuss shipping times and options, then please feel free, but for back-and-forth's between you and me, Thomas, I think we should move to PM. Nobody else wants to have to sit through our personal discussion :-)
