A Gazebo of Games is the spring convention from the folks at Wild Gazebo Productions. It will be held April 30 to May 2, 2004 in Edison, NJ. Discussion of the fall 2003 convention can be found HERE and HERE.

Event registration is open, and I've been hit by a wild & crazy idea. How about we run an "Indie Gaming Track" at AGoG? All it would entail is running an indie game in every slot, convincing the convention to give it some mention in the program book and signs, and perhaps a webpage listing brief descriptions & links to the various games.

There are 8 time slots for RPGs at the convention. Luke Crane (abzu) will be there, and he usually runs 2-3 slots of Burning Wheel, right, Luke? I can cover 3-4 slots with perhaps MLwM, Universalis, Sorcerer, InSpectres or Orkworld.

Even so, another GM or two would be helpful. Would anyone else going to the convention be interested in helping out? The convention will cover admission costs for running 8 hours of events (2 slots).

Luke, can you let us know what sort of "Forge East" inventory you have left, so we can attempt to target those games?

I will be there too running Bad Muthas and another one of my games from Chapter 13 Press. I want to help with Indie forge promotion, I think I may have mentioned that to Luke already.
So Just let me know and I shall be there to help... I should be at Ubercon too if y'all need a hand

Gosh, I have to put in my events.  Burning Wheel all the way!  :)  Plus I may run my newest Godlike scenario.  No doubt Luke will be there sporting some FORGE stuff along with the Nerz from NerdNYC.

This also reminds me that I have to get on the ball and get my convention schedule posted :)

Hope to see you all there... especially since I am going to Cali for a con in May you all have no excuse :D

I can't yet guarantee my timing, but I could probably take two slots of Universalis to free you (Michael) up for other games on that list.  It looks like we have until 15 Feb to submit events and they'd likely give us some flex time to get our act together if they're interested in our track of games.  I'll play with my calendar.

Hey guys.  Not much chance of me making it halfway across the country to New Jersey, but I appreciate the effort to get in some Uni play.  Thanks.

Liz the RPG Chick

Hi, this is Liz the RPG chick,
I run the RPG track for Wild Gazebo, and we are more than willing to have you run a game every slot.  As long as you go to our web page and register each game, I will reserve a space in each slot for you.  If you can't fill every slot, let me know so I can fill it with someone else.  All you have to do is go to www.wildgazebo.com, click on A Gazebo of Game and click register.  I will confer with the rest of the staff as to what type of billing you will get.  At the very least you will get your organization listed after every game you run, just like PAGE and RPGA.  Is there anything you want?  Just remember we are a new con so be reasonable with your demands, but we're usually accomodating.  Just get back to me on what you want billing as.  If you want ad space you will be responsible for creating the ad.  We welcome anyone who is interested in running any game, and I am considering holding a first time GM slot on Sat.  or maybe a workshop, if there is intrest.  I am open to comments and suggestions, and I see no reason why we can't work together.  Feel free to email me at liz@wildgazebo.com

You could run as indie rpgs, or the forge or whatever you wanted.  Putting something next to your event listing is simple, I just fill it in on the form

Luke

Hi All.

Thanks Mike for getting this started.

I am willing to run BW, obviously. Unfortunately, I am just not qualified to run any other games. I'd make quite a mess of it, I'm afraid. So additional GMs would really help.

I will, however, provide a Dealer's Room table to display the Forge-type warez that we have. I currently have: 1 copy of MLwM, 4 of Uni, 3 Pax Draconis, 3 FVLMINATA and 3 Sorcerer (and supplements). Focussing running games for those games would be fantastic.

I would like to note that I was not planning on getting a dealer's room table this time around. The last DR table I got was a complete bust. The meager sales (all around) were toasted completely toasted by the ~$400 in expenses for what amounts to a small local con. I was planning on returning to my guerilla roots and just running BW in every slot and "see what happens."

But, if we can organize 3-4 GMs to run OTHER games (other=not BW), then I will secure a table and space to display our warez. What I would prefer is for the con to allow us to sell from our game table, even if we paid a modest fee. And get that table/location listed in the program for what it is: Small Press and Independently Published RPGs. After all, we're actually just going to be volunteering for them all weekend. Running 36 hrs of games is no joke.

LIZ:
Thanks for your interest. I hadn't notified you myself because I wanted to get at least some of our ducks in a row before approaching you, but I really appreciate your taking the time to post. Our identifying name is still a subject for debate, but I'll let you know as soon as we've finalized something. As I mention below, I'm looking to coordinate everyone's schedule before we submit events to avoid as much overlap as possible. Hopefully, that will help you out when deciding on table assignments, as well. I'll let you know when we have that schedule nailed down.

LUKE:
Thanks for doing the dealer's table. I hope Wild Gazebo helps out with some of the things you mentioned in the other thread, particularly a dedicated table & selling outside the dealer room.

As far as running the non-BW games you have in stock, I can do MLwM & I'll concoct another Sorcerer scenario, and I guess I can run FVLMINATA, too. Chris has offered to run some Uni, which is cool! Unfortunately, I don't know Pax Draconis, nor do I have the time to learn it. If anyone in the vicinity might be willing to GM it, please PM or e-mail me. And, of course, Dregg will be doing that Chapter 13 thang.

LUKE, CHRIS, DREGG, DON:
Thanks for helping out! Please e-mail me at the e-mail link below. I'd like to set up the schedule over e-mail, rather than cluttering up the boards. Please include the following information:

* Games you're interested in GMing (Also, the scenario title, particularly for BW games, since there are so many)
* How many slots of each you'd like to GM
* Which slots you're willing to GM in. (the slots are: Friday 8pm and midnight; Saturday 9am, 2pm, 8pm and midnight; Sunday 9am, 2pm) and if there is any time slot you prefer and why
* Any of the games listed above you'd particularly like to play in. I'll do my best to accomodate these, but no promises.

My goal with scheduling is to have as little overlap as possible, and for us to be able to present our games to Liz as a unit, rather than each put in our events and hope they don't conflict. Oh, also include your thoughts on calling this whole thing (the events plus Luke's booth) the Indie/Small-Press Gaming Extravaganza.

EVERYONE ELSE ON THE FORGE:
I'd still like someone willing to put together a bare bones webpage that will list the finalized schedule, descriptions of the events, links to each game's page, and a link to the Conventions forum here, in case anyone has questions. That way, we can include the link right in the event description that goes on Gazebo's online pre-registration system. Is anyone willing to help out with this? I can host the page on my Incarnadine site, but my Craft Web Page skill is very low.

Also, anyone who knows any gamers in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Connecticut or Maryland, please make them aware of A Gazebo of Games, and the Indie/Small Press Gaming Extravaganza.

Trey here, the Con Chair and Exhibitor Liaison for A Gazebo of Games.

A regular booth in our Exhibitor hall is $150 - that gets you a 10' x 6' space, two Exhibitor Badges to the convention, and a full-page ad in our program book.

Unfortunately, I can't lower that price any, as the rest of my Exhibitors would have my head (and rightly so).

However, what I *can* do, is give you a table outside the Exhibit Hall, for $100. You can sell from your table, and promote yourselves there however you like (provided that you don't block traffic flow into the Exhibitor Hall, or down the hall to the RPGA area). I can still give you the two free badges, and the full-page ad.

Advantages: it's cheaper, and you can keep your own hours.

Disadvantages: It's not as secure, and you'd have to pack up your table every night, to take care of your property.

Let me know what you'd like to do - I'm happy to work with all of you however I can.

yours,
Trey

I am glad you guys are organizing, but get those registrations in soon.
From the look of things you are going to have more than 8 games going on, (and there are only 8 slots through out the con), so don't worry too much about overlapping.  I suggest that everyone who is going to run more than one game get to pick a sat slot and either a friday slot or a sunday slot, unless you're just day tripping.  If you run three slots, try one each day, except for same.  That way you don't have to fight each other for the precious sat slots.  And the earlier you get your games in, the likelier you guys can get more than one table in a slot.  As a side note, and this is an interesting tidbit,  7 of the 8 games ran Sat morning at 9am

WGPTrey

Hrm...maybe put all this into a tournament format?  I'm sure we could work with Prize Guy Steve to set up somehting neat as a prize, or perhaps give a selection of the games that were played as prizes.

I just got a mailing for AGOG in my inbox.

They list 36 specific events (and much, much more!), these four of which are in bold:

Northeast Regional Puerto Rico Championships
Living Greyhawk Interactive: Fog of War, by Steve Hess!
---->>>>Indie-RPG showcase<<<<----
Charity Auction

Good billing, I'd say.

We're running:

Sorcerer, My Life with Master, Bad Muthas, Universalis, FVLMINATA, Kill Puppies for Satan, and Burning Wheel.

Bulldogs! appears on their game grid (sometimes) as part of the "Indie Extravaganza," but not on Michael's grid.

Sometimes? Did I miss one?

Let me know, so I can fix it on the site, and so it'll be correct in the program book.
