Okay, our group had similar questions when we made characters last night. Here's the best example I can think of.

Haaz has the following proficiencies:
- Greatsword 8
- Wrestling 6

Under Greatsword, it says that it defaults to wrestling at -4. So, how many dice does Haaz have in his CP (not counting Reflex) when he wrestles? Is it 6 (his wrestling proficiency alone), or 10 (his greatsword wrestling default, plus his wrestling levels)?

Just wrestling levels.

HOWEVER... Wrestling Levels should have been purchased FROM "4" and up from there.  So you only spend 2 points to bring it to 6, instead of spending 6 points to buy it from zero.

As I interpret the rules....

If you just made up the character with an A priority for Profs (14 points) he would have

greatsword 8 (cost 8)
wrestling 8 (cost 4, greatsword - 4 + 4)

and 2 unspeant prof points....because he can't have a starting pro above 8.

Quote from: Brian LeybourneWell duh, of course the middle is pointless; the point is at the end...

It's less amusing if you actually use the whole sentence, ya goof.

And yanno.. I spent most of my time this weekend at the half-sword... It's nigh impossible to actually swing a longsword when your friends and allies both are pressed so close...
