Choosing a demonic weapon.

So, after some talks with a player, I wanted to include a demonic, stormbringer inspired weapon into my game as a possible plot device.

Except it's done to death with swords. So I want to try something new.

The basics around it is, it's a symbol and gift of the chosen champion of Uglub and a relic to the followers of his pagan religion, inhabiting by a demon closly in line with Uglub. By the way, I'm thinking of doing Uglub like Satan as per Satanism... someone who isn't innately evil, just a stronger sense of self and indendence than most other concerns and an approval of exploration of sorcery per a belief in a live fast die old lifestyle.

I'm using my developing demonic system, which is to say, the weapon is inhabited by a demon with it's own SA's, a person using it can use these SA's as a bonus to attack.

The demon's SA's can never raise on the own, except for a special SA it has unique to ghosts and demons called "Ruin", if somone possessing the weapon uses it in an act that diminishes one of their SAs, than they apply the Ruin score as a bonus, and Ruin goes up by one. The demon can spend it's Ruin to increase it's other SA's.

Other than that, the demon knows a few sorcerous vagaries, but it could only cast when SA's are going into it.

So, what do you think would be a cool weapon for it to enhabit?

I've considered several polearms, such as a spear, halberd or lance. Spears espically since they are a very natural weapon, in line with the natural, druidic society I was thinking the sympathizers of Uglub would be. But I'm open to other possibilities.

What SA's for it? One would be Ruin, of course, and it'd make sense if another was Faith: Uglub's pagan religion.

I can't really think of many others... anyone have ideas that are suitable to the situation I presented, some parts of Uglub I should incorperate I'm not aware of, or things that are Stormbring-ish?

For a very, very, old relic, how about a bronze mace, spear, or axe?  If an axe, it could be a piercing axe rather than a slashing axe, maybe one of the first introduced to counter the earliest armor during egyptian times.  This new type of axe was a decisive development in warfare and in the right context would have made it a really formidable weapon once-upon-a-time.  The mace is really cool to give it old world, sumerian, charm.  If it's a religious artifact, the bronze could be unnaturally strong, eliminating any penalties that bronze would otherwise have.

A *really* old weapon could be a copper mace.

Hmm....
Perhaps if it is an ancient relic you are looking for, stick to ancient weapons.. like a pole-axe.. a spear, a club, etc. A hand-axe works too. Try a stone-weapon.. those were pretty damned old. Maybe this weapon's demon was imprisoned in it long ago.. forgotten much like the One Ring was.. then Uglub found it. *shrug* But most likely the LOTR ideas have been played-out and are old. If that is such a case with your characters.. try something extremely innovative.
As for the rest of the demonic stuff, sounds pretty cool. Can't wait to read it.

Go with a nasty old iron headed mace. It will be feasible for the players to actually use the darn thing and it can be a little more sinister that way. When they pick it up they can feel how unnaturally cold it is and get a foreshadow of its purpose most foul and dread. I saw this one old mace from the earliest attempts at expelling the Moors from what is now Spain. It was basically a simple cylindrical mace with eight or so pyramidal projections on it. I'll see of I can dig up a link.
