I am a struggling website developer who is in the process of creating a brand new RPG. I am usually not a beggar, or anything of that sort. In fact, I feel quite horrible for even doing this. But I am in a very hard spot at the moment, and this is sadly my last resort.

Like I previously stated, I am currently working on a brand new RPG. The game I am working on isn't anything spectacular or extremely high-end. It is a text-based MMORPG, which will be played from a web browser. The game itself is coded in PHP, MySQL & JavaScript (with Ajax / jQuery). Just as "text-based" implies, this is NOT a graphic oriented game. Wait, don't leave! Just because it doesn't have the latest 3D graphics, doesn't mean it can't be a good game. This is something that I have done before, so I know how successful it can be. I used to own a game with these same ideas, and it was VERY popular.

I have already begun work on this new game, and it is coming along very well. Although this project is new, there has been a lot of work completed on it so far. It isn't close to being ready for beta testing yet, but I expect it to be within 2 weeks (tops). The game I had before was quite basic, and to be honest, boring (to me). A lot of the game's "content" was copy and pasted (such as the skills & quests), but players still seemed to enjoy it. This time around though, I am putting much more effort into things. I'm sure most of you have tried World of Warcraft. I'm not going to lie, that's where a lot of my inspiration comes from. Like people say though, if something works, imitate it.

Being a "text-based" game, doesn't mean there isn't any graphics involved at all. I do have fully customizable characters, which show you exactly what your "toon" looks like. When you equip a new item, it updates your character's image instantly. No, they aren't moving images, but they add a great "feel" to the game. I also have plans to integrate a full scale "map", where the players can manually move their character(s) around. This is something that wasn't in my first game, and will open a whole bunch of new options.

What do I ask of you? As I said before, I am currently in a rough point in my life. All that I ask, is for a simple donation to help get this project off the ground. I don't expect anybody to donate $100, just whatever you can spare. Even $1 will help me out, every little bit counts. Your donations aren't done unappreciated either. Everybody who donates (no matter the amount), will receive in-game "rewards" when it goes live. I will definitely make your reward worth the amount you donate. I will keep in contact with every donator via the email (PayPal account) they donate from.

Again, this is not something I would normally do. I hope that if you have a dollar or two to spare, you can help me out. Your donations are very much appreciated, thank you for taking the time to read my message.

Ron Edwards

Hello, and welcome to the Forge.

However, I recommend that you become more familiar with the site before posting again. I've already moved your post in First Thoughts to the Inactive File, because each forum has its own purpose and a given post belongs in only one forum. I will also move this thread into the Connections forum where it fits better.

More importantly, this is a site focused on in-person, non-technological role-playing, or "table-top." Your MMORPG design isn't what we discuss here, unless it's somehow related to the table-top medium.

I recommend reading the sticky posts at the top of each forum explaining their purpose, especially Site Discussion, which includes a general overview. There is no need to reply to me here.

Best, Ron
