My copy of the core rules arrived today! Interestingly, after all the time I've spent reading these forums, there is very little in them that is new for me besides the little details.

Of course we all know its those little details that make or break games. ime to get reading.

lets just not hope that the TFoB will over-ride and outdate the Main rulebook so much, that you fell that you have wasted your money

Cool, I heartily suggest downloading both the Chargen and Combat sim software.

So who will your first character be?

I wouldn't worry about that. TFOB will present a lot of new and optional rules, plus fill a few gaps in the original book, but it's certainly a suppliment, not a V2.

Brian.

ZenDog: I already have both. I'm expirimenting now. Actually I won't have a character of my own for the first few sessions, I'm going to be the Seneschal. However my group has a tradition of rotating GM duties every few sessions so everyone gets to play.

When I do get to make a character he will be a bladeslinger/ranger type who is actually an exhiled Stahlanish nobel. He is seaking the Riddle because he is ashamed of the lives he took needlessly while fighting along side his warlike older brother (conscience). He knows violence is part of life, but he feels there must be a better way than the random, senseless slaughter of general warfare and is determined to find it (drive). In the process he will have to see the world through the eyes of those with a more open, peaceful outlook, including an Elfling druidess who he is secretly in love with (passion), confront and possibly fight said brother, own up to his responsibilities as a nobel, and lead his people to a less violent future (one massive Destiny).
Very deep, conflicted character who I came up with entirely while picking SAs in the character generator, they really do work wonders for shaping a concept.

Great work Brian, this is the best $35 I've ever spent on anything related to gaming.

That's a very good charcter concept Tash, those SA's almost read like the plot points of a novel.

I'm a GM too but I'm always creating characters I'm having fun at the moment making lots of viking and Celtic types for my online game.

I don't know how much has been disscussed here before (I read most of the 'What we want in the TFoB' thread) but a sneak peek at something would be nice (will there be armour and weapons specific to each of Weyrth's cultures?).

I bet you and Jake can't wait till it's released then we can start bugging you about the next suplement.

Much as I hate to turn down praise (*grin*), TROS was written by Jake, not me. I came along later (and wrote most of OBAM) but the main book is all Jake. TFOB will be about 50/50, I reckon.

Brian.

Jake and Brian, i will need to say. GET TO WORK!!!

I have ALL these money and i need to use them on TRoS products!
hehe :-D

I'm sending a greeting from my players, they also think that the game is great. They like the "hard Way" combat is done.

for me and my friends, me buying TRoS has gotten me into the fantasy genre again, i have always loved the fantasy genre, but have not found a set of gaming rules i liked, before now, and also those D&D players i have on my team, are beginning to like TRoS. Even the hardcore Rolemaster players in my club have been studying the sessions to see what all the fuss is about.....

The most funny thing is that most people ask if this is a new D20 product, then i smack them!

I think TRoS as a product have a great future, and i will do everything i can to infom people about it.

so speed up the working of TFoB!!!

I'm sure this has been discussed, but.. Is there any way to pre-order TFOB? Like I pay the money, and get a book as soon as it comes out. If enough people do this you cover some of the printing costs. Hopefully it could also speed up the writing and we get the book sooner. Everyone wins :)

Wait until a bit closer to the time, and then perhaps we'll sort something out. We haven't finished writing it yet! Don't worry - it'll be possible to arrange to get the book real quick once it's available.

As soon as the book is off to the printers we'll put it up for pre-order. That will probably be August.

On a related note: do you need help playtesting it? I used to work as a Lead QA tester for a computer gaming company, as did one of the guys in my group. The rest of the group are all long time gamers with exposure to lots of styles. Also I've done some volunteer writing, editing (copy and otherwise, I've noticed that the proofing of the core rulebook is a tad lacking) and testing for several game realted websites and PnP RPGs, notable White Wolf's sci-fi RPG Aeon (I think I even made it into the credits for the second print run of that game).

I'd be happy to lend my expirience to the growth of this really cool system, and I'm sure I'd be able to threaten enough physical and emotional trauma to my groupmate for them to jump on board as well.
