Hey folks,
There's a bit of a snafu going on over in the Long Term Game thread I started over in RPG Theory. I completed a post, hit Preview, and I saw Ron had closed it, but I was actually posting to encourage that the thread be closed anyway, so I figured I'd just leave a last message as a sort of final summary. I even explained for the benefit of the newbies (one of whom I encouraged to join) NOT TO POST TO A CLOSED THREAD.
So what happens? The newbies post. Now I'm irritated and a bit embarrassed. Grrr.
So the question is, why not just lock the threads in the first place? In a recent thread, Ron stated something to the effect that if locking threads was necessary the Forge wouldn't be something worth preserving. I disagree, and I'm interested in hearing the thoughts behind the statement and the current policy of verbally closing threads.

Hi Ethan,
The last time we discussed this was in Locking things, as a foundation.
Best,
Ron
