Small Sorcery Question
Hello,
I've owned TROS for some time now and I've read parts of it in bits and pieces but only recently took the plunge and read the entire book cover to cover. I won't delve into all the thoughts and questions I've had as most of them have been answered by just going through old threads here. But I do have one minor point of confusion regarding Sorcery.
I've seen threads around here that talk of "Embedded" spells. I don't see that as a technical term any where in the book. What I do see is discussion of "Dormant" spells that can be put into objects. So first question.
1) Are these the same thing? I'm assuming they are.
Next, there is some confusion in my mind on how long it takes to cast a Dormant spell. Note: I'm not talking about the first time it's cast into the object I'm talking about when the object that holds the spell is actually used. The book says that a dormant spell is used just like the original spell only the object is considered the caster. This implies that casting time is included. So, if it's a CTN 6 Spell of One it takes six seconds to cast off of the ring that I've put it into.
However, some of the discussions around here regarding the mysterious "embedded" spells imply that the spell goes off instantaneously. So, I could theoretically spend 14 hours casting a Spell of Many into a staff or ring and let it lie dormant and then unleash its full power in the middle of a combat. Is this interpretation correct?
Thanks.
Jesse

RE: Small Sorcery Question
I always thought it took the standard amount of time to 'go off' CTN=6 spell takes 6 seconds to come into effect. But now i also remember hearing that some people have them cast Instantaneous.
Now i'm confused :)
