My Riddle of Steel campaign is coming to an end after next session. It was a satisfying if bumpy ride. The parts where the game faltered I learned alot about Narrativism. On the upsides:
) People had alot of fun, the game had a quick moving and involving story, espicially towards the second half.
On the downsides:
) I don't feel like I hit on the deepest aspects of TroS's premise, partly due to dysfunction on the earlier side of the game and partly the characters and/or players being relatively unmotivated, abit more accustomed to railroady sort of affairs.
Anywho, the game was rather light on combat, so when it did come up, I found it suddenly a few of the details to track overwhelming. So, I made a few improvisations. Armor tokens, a few broken off pieces of armor from some legos with "AV #" and "-CP #" so people could remember what they had if they were quickly changing between a large variety of armors, and a small pool of red beads in order to represent blood loss. Maybe some other people could use that as well? Besides the helpfullness factor, it adds a tactile niftiness.

I like it too. We were using black and red D20s for the same thing: Red fo blood and black for pain, the number facing off was your penalty.
Your idea is probably better.

My TRoS book arrives in the next 1-5 days, so thanks for the idea! I plan on stealing it for whatever game I manage to get going :)
