What is Lore?: Lore is knowing how to handle yourself and work the system.

What is Humanity?: Being able to get out and still be a Man, not an Animal.

What are Demons?: Demons are the ones who like being in jail. The hard cases. The fixers. The gangstas. The guards. Oh, sure, they can make living there a lot easier on you, and a lot harder on others. But do you really want it to be easier? Or are you really trying to become better?

I was grasping for a version of this kind of game but Demons were people on the outside, who came to visit. I'm not sure why but it is still slipping through my fingers and I can't get a grip on it.

Hello,

As with many proposals like this, the first question is, how magical/metaphysical do you want the demons to be?

Best,
Ron

I was thinking they'd be pretty low-key. That Guy Who No-One Fucks With In the Corner...the Sleazy Guy Who Always has Porn and Cigarettes...that sort of thing. Temptations. "People" who can make your time "inside" so much easier. If you let them.

Hello,

I guess I need a little bit more understanding. I'm playing a character, and we use the Summoning rules.

In-game, what just happened? Is it all explained in realistic/representational terms, such that a real guy who happens to have this role in the prison is now brought into the story? Or does this guy actually materialize, in a demonic/smokey/scary way, in my cell?

In other words, are you talking about using the Sorcerer rules in order to play a representational situation, as in Oz? Or using them to play a surreal and demonic horror story which happens to be set in (and deal with the specific issues of) prison?

Would they put the video into the Horror or the Drama section of the store?

Best,
Ron

I think it would be a drama. I saw 'demons' as real people who are just a bit "hyper-real".

But I also saw demons could represent "accidents", as well...it's too bad Johnson got his arm mangled whilst running the clothes press. Nasty business, that.

If you summoned somone, they wouldn't appear in a puff of smoke...so, yeah, I'm thinking more like Oz.

But the message of Sorcerer would still come in clear: What are you willing to do to get what you want?
