Well, the upgrade's done. I'll be changing the colors and what not over the weekend. Post questions and comments here.

Well, GOLLY. Haven't we come up in the world?
Looks nice. Best of luck with Forge2. :)
Joe.

Missing New Posts Icon thingy
Hmm...I suspect the "new posts since your last visit" icon isn't working for me. I'll keep an eye on it. Is it showing up for everyone else?

Works for me. "Thanks Ernie! Everything is cool!" :)
BTW, I like the new look. Very snazzy!

False alarm, I guess. Ignore me.

So is there some way to make those little post-it notes clickable? They look like buttons, so when I see a forum with a new topic, I go and click on the post-it note. And NOTHING HAPPENS!!
agh!!
Oh well, this board rules. Now if you can only get rid of the Emoticon chart to the left, you will be my hero.

I am now your hero. Also - everybody may want to go to their profile and turn HTML on. I see Zak's sig's not working, and I suspect that's why.

I've now also added a "Forge" theme to bring back that ol' brown and red we like so much. I probably need to work on it a bit more.
If the forum looks the same to you as always, go to your profile and change your theme.

Looks cool, but please check the CSS(?) you used (or other font feature) because you locked the font size and my text size-largest setting is showing me dots. I hate small symbols and will not read if have to hug the monitor.
Please,

Again, as I said earlier - I have no problems adjusting the font size in Mozilla. I'm not a CSS junkie, though, so I might be missing something. What browser are you using, and would you know how to make it where the font is adjustable? (If so, I'll e-mail you the CSS file.)

The best solution from my persepective would be a "font size" option within the user profile, since it's bizarre and annoying to have adjusted the font size for one site, only to get blasted by a giant cartoony-sized font when you go to eBay or some other site with a normal-sized default font.
The only really critical font size for this would the one for the text of the postings themselves.

Maybe someday. Not this weekend, though.
I increased most the font sizes a bit in order to make it easier on the sight-impaired. I'll make a separate "big" theme later.

Sorry for the tone, Clinton, I've been under a more stress than is healthy for the last two weeks, and it just leaked out here.

Would you please remove the auto-set font sizes from the CSS file?
I'm using IE and I cannot change the font size at all. My screen size is 1024x768, with Large fonts.
I'm burning my eyes out trying to read the tiny font currently available. I'd really appreciate it if you could fix this to allow the alteration of font sizes on the pages, instead of locking them to one size.
Thanks!

I'm using IE, not Mozilla (sorry, won't touch it) and I cannot change the font size at all.
I don't feel like burning my eyes out trying to read these blasted tiny fonts...always ALWAYS let the viewer choose their own font size, NEVER force a particular one on them.
Just to let everyone know, this is not the way to make a request. I've already explained that I'm not a knowledgable person on CSS and I am working my hardest on it right now.
All this sort of screaming does is make me go, "Fuck it, I'll go watch FOTR again today and leave this for later."
I said above that I'd increased the font sizes a bit. A simple note telling me that wasn't enough would have sufficed.
And to note, I just looked at the page on IE, with the font size set to "smaller." It was actually bigger than in Mozilla.

The computer I was looking at the site on (in IE) is at 800x600 resolution. I understand why the text might be impossibly small on monitors with 1280x1024 resolution or something.
So, I'm going to buy a book on CSS today and figure it out and set everything a-right for you guys. That's why I did this over a weekend.

I'm at home looking at this on IE & the font size is fine. Granted, this is with my glasses on, but I have no problem at all with this. In fact, I think this whole forum looks brilliant. I love it.
The only thing that's kind of weird is that they switched forum set-ups over on RPGnet at exactly the same time & both fora now look exactly the same (or pretty damn similar, anyway).

I haven't experienced any real problems with font size, and I use 1600x1200 resolution on a 19" monitor. I thought the old version of the forum was fine, though I guess the new version will be great once it's all dialed in. It does have a lot of whizzie new features. This must be quite a hobby for you, Clinton.

Ick...they have little pictures. Let's not get that feature. Nothing personal, but I'm not sure I want a visual representation of how lacking in taste you all are. It looks like a food fight.

First things I turned off were the little pictures, the smilies, and the ranking system. There's no need for all that madness.

Hey Clinton,
Despite that I have HTML turned on, some simple HTML seems to be failing out.
No <EM>emphasis</EM>.
No <FONT COLOR="RED">colored text</FONT>
You did fix the thing where single quotes were being appended with slashes. Is this related to that fix?
Thanks,
Paul

HTML
The reason some HTML isn't showing up is because I can now set what HTML is allowed and what isn't. I'll add FONT and EM.

RE: New forum version
Clinton I am sorry about the percieved tone of my post. Honestly it was not my intention to come of as anything but helpful. Sorry.
I thought that you were using CSS because I have seen it misused in setting the fonts too many times, and I haven’t even bothered to check if that was the fact with Forge forums. Mea culpa.
I use IE 5.5 and am unable to resize text size using the View > Text Size > size I want option. And I am complaining about it because I am not only using a small, old and not too good monitor, but also because I am one of the ‘blind’ people (-6,75 both eyes). So if you can help me that would be great.
On a side note do you expect to add the colour options back? I was rather fond of the blue/gray one.
Thanks, and sorry, again.
Ranko

Note: Everyone who thinks they offended me - you didn't. It was taken care of with one other person and I.
And if you liked the blue/grey option, you can select it in your profile. The theme is called 'subSilver'.

All the font size problems should be fixed. If you still have a problem, flush your cache, and re-load the page.

Sorry man... Is there a new setting in the userprof that I can change?

I love the new look. SubSilver rules! I just wish the Forge logo was in the upper-left again.
Who knows, one of these days I might have something relevant to post.
Later,

SubSilver and the Forge logo
First - you can use the Forge template instead of subSilver if you like. Things will look much better if you do.
Second - The Forge logo was messing it up for everyone with 800x600 resolution or less. I expect to make a template with logo and a template sans logo, so people can choose.

Just for the record, I tried the Forge template, and I found that I really didn't care for it. I don't generally care about color schemes, but that one didn't sit well with me, and I didn't like the immense size of the default fonts being used with it (my vision is fine, thanks). I appreciate that you allow me to keep using the subSilver template.
