Continuum Convention (Issaries, Glorantha, Roleplaying)

Hi All,

I just thought I would pass this on.......

Continuum is a games convention featuring, but not exclusive to, games and worlds created by Issaries Inc and Chaosium. Held across a weekend attendees can participate in traditional table-top roleplaying games, boardgames, cardgames, freeform games (large and small), discussion panels, and all manner of general silliness.

Continuum is also the successor to the fondly remembered Convulsion. It will be held at Digby Hall, part of the Leicester University campus Halls of Residence, from July 23rd to the 26th, 2004.

On this site you will find full details of Continuum as it develops, including news of guests, games, freeforms and special events. Those who've attended Convulsion will find much that's familiar - new attendees will discover a fantastic atmosphere, great games and new friends."

I have recently returned from Continuum and all I can say is I had a great time and am really really glad I went.

BOTG rocked, the Char-Un are going to be a fantastic source of player lunacy and I met loads of lovely lovely people.

:)

I played in Simon Bray's 'White Tree' session as well and didn't regret the decision. What really worked for me:

- Simon's portrayal of the main narrator character. The scary old shaman came to life before our very eyes. it was a good learning point for me. One well portrayed narrator character can make all the running in setting tone and feel for the whole event. Show don't tell. Interestingly Simon GM'd standing up. I had never thought of this before, but it gave him a lot more ability to 'act'.
- His willingness to go with the flow. Simon didn't refer to notes during the episode, which seemed simple enough to keep in his head (always a good thing at a time-limited convention event). I've noticed that this makes it a lot psychologically easier to follow player desires as there is less 'hard-copy' to abandon.
- The friendly atmosphere. It was a con game, it was on the evening. So the atmosphere was very much 'let's have fun'. Everyone seemed to agree with that mood, and Simon picked up on it and was happy with it.

A great part of a con for me is seeing other folks narrating styles and picking up ideas. John Hughes two years ago was another good source of that - maybe I'll post another time.

Good job, nicely done.

I also played in Simon Bray's White Tree game. Had a great time playing it. The Enaree was one of the scariest characters I've ever had the pleasure of playing with. Simon's characterisation was absolutely brilliant all of the players were far too scared to not do what she said.

I was proud to be a part of it and hopefully they will sing of my death.
