Excited again! But a few questions
Looks a good game, excited about the possibility of sitting around a table with my mates again. Havent done that for over 5 years. But before I delve into Universalis, I came across a few obstacles, probably due to my own interpretation of the rules. I was hoping you someone could help me out. Here goes:
Page 7 TENETS, game setup
Can a player continue to help create the setting after he passes? I mean, 4 players, Tom, Dick, Harry and Sally sitting around a table. Tom spends a coin, Dick passes, Harry spends a coin, and Sally spends a coin. Next cycle of discussions, Tom spends a coin…what happens when its Dick’s turn next?
Page 14 Interrupting the Scene Framing player
Can the framing player be interrupted ‘before’ he starts verbally describing events, during, or after? Little unsure here
Example:
“Ok there’s this large underground cavern, with 4 troggs sitting around the Queen Trogg, herself seated on a slimy stone throne.”
Narration:
“The queen addresses her subordinates in the guttural Trogg dialect.
When’s the earliest opportunity that the framing payer can be interrupted? Before he starts narrating (“The queen…), during his narration, or after his narration has ended (“…Trogg dialect”)?
Page 46 destroying/eliminating components
“In order to do this [kill/destroy], a player must spend a number of coins equal to the components importance.”
So if I were going up against an opponent with an importance of 3, where could these 3 coins come from?
[A] A rifle (1), with infrared targeting (2), and recoil suppressor (3)?
Or
I simply spent 3 coins?
Or
[C] A combination of both a + b?
Page 66, example
The buying dice and justifying them example states: “you are fighting at a disadvantage because the Slytheran forces have laid down smoke to cover their advance”. Why does this cause Dave ‘2’ coins?
Thanks in advance

Yes.

Once the framing player has spent at least one Coin on an event (i.e. not on continued framing).

If you control the Component, you can just pay to remove traits exactly as you would pay to add them. If you're involved in a Complication, then you're spending the Coins you won in the Complication to do the same thing, but it can be to a Component under anyone's control.

I don't understand your question and I don't have the book in front of me. But basically, Dave is adding two extra dice to his pool in a complication above and beyond whatever "free" dice he was able to draw on. He much justify these newly introduced dice with explanation and also pay for them with Coins from his stock (which he is likely to recoup, win or lose). Does that address your need?
