Sword myth fun
After the fun of the sword myth thread, I figured we should include some of the weapons from the thread. These would be the melee versions of these mythical weapons:
3rd Rate Katana
Slash Diff 2, Damage +8
Thrust Diff 3, Damage +4
Parry 2
Bypasses armor and toughness
No penalty for one handed use if you use it with a Wakizashi.
I list this as a mere 3rd rate katana because it is an admittedly conservative view of the worlds most incredible weapon ever.
Wakizashi
Slash Diff 3, Damage +4
Thrust Diff 4, Damage +2
Parry 3
This weapon really comes alive when used in tandem with a katana, as it balances out. You can also use it for throwing, in which case for now just use the long bow characteristics.
Ninjato
Slash Diff 3, Damage +4
Thrust Diff 3, Damage +2
Parry 2
This weapons is straight and so can be used to thrust real good.
Broadsword
Slash Diff 6, Damage +2
Thrust Diff 6, Damage +2
Parry 6
Conan's weapon. If you play in the GURPS world you can save a few bucks by making the thrust do blunt damage. For encumbrance purposes, it weighs 100 pounds. Or about 33 kilograms if you are trying to convert to metric and don't know the conversion amount.
If you are an ahistorical loser who plays a game like D&D or TROS, you can use this weapon to reflect the longsword.
Historical Rapier
Slash Diff 7, Damage -2
Thrust Diff 3, Damage +5
Parry 5 (against all weapons except the katana which breaks it automatically)
This was the weapon that was used to slip between the joints of plate mail and until the foil replaced it in modern fencing. It looks just like a modern foil, except it has a prettier hilt.
Foil
Slash Diff 8, Damage -5
Thrust Diff 3, Damage +5
Parry 5 (against all weapons except the katana which breaks it automatically)
This is the modern foil. Note how it kicks butt against the lame broadsword.
Numchucks
Slash Diff 2, Damage +2
Thrust Diff 4, Damage +1
Parry 5 (stop spinning it and hold the stick parts with your hands)
The thrust is used when you grab the sticks to catch a katana with the rope and then you spike the stick things into the face of your enemy. I think this version is too conservative so let me know and I will fix it.
:D Heh heh heh. I think I summed up the mythical weapons list pretty well. Let me know if I missed anything.

I think you forgot to give the rapier a bonus damge vs. plate armor and cavalry.

Gladius
Slash Diff 5, Damage +1
Thrust Diff 7, Damage +1
Parry 6
This is the sword used by the Hero dude in Gladiator. Notice how well is slashes, which is how they did it in the movie. The movie was so historical so this is an accurate description of the weapon. So were the Romans riding with stirrups...
