my first thoughts:
-------------------------------
24 Hour RPG-

Get Kreiged!

So I was just sitting down at my PC for a long night of working

on my proffesional writing work and watching television when the

sudden whim to participate in the honorable 24 rpg competition

hit me. So here I am typing a little document that will no doubt

be woefully under 24 pages, with the singular hope that it will

be a cool idea and not too horribly executed.

As I sit here the title I typed under the 24 Hour RPG heading was

Get Kreiged!, so I guess that's the game I'm going to write. But

what is it about?

How about Nazis, ninjas, zombies, robots, and superheroes, spiked

with grindhouse?

And for the hell of it, and because I'm a Japanese corrupted

youth, I'll throw in the mandatory anime influence as well.

Now, to try to come up with some cohesive statement to summarize

the game, based on the title and what I'v decided on so

far...howzabout: "What if the Axis won WWII with the help of

supersoldiers, and now the German-Japanese 50's culture is the

playground of reds and drug dealers like you?" Yeah. I kind of

like that.

So were playing up a unrealistic alternate history where the Axis

won WWII and counquerored the Western World, fast fowarded to the

50's.

Now, how to work in what I want?
I want supers: German-Japanese supersoldier projects, crippled

and twisted from their creation and the acts they commited
I want ninjas: Well...Japan, duh!
I want robots: The German-Japanese technological industry is very

advanced for the 50's.
I want zombies: Welcome to the wonderful world of drug overdose

undead!

The bad guys should be the all invasive, secretive Axis secret

police, and in a larger scope, The Man himself.

The good guys, the player characters. They'll be proto-hippies,

communists, and drug dealers, all classified as revolutionaries.

Bassically hardcore counterculture antiheroes. Yeah! And I'll

have porno actors/directors/writers a valid character option,

too! And of course all the wacky weird stuff will be open to them

as well.

Is this goofy enough to be playable yet?

Now to discuss the metagame mechanics. Like, is this game played

the traditional style, with a GM and Players describing the

actions of NPC's and PC's? Or is it different?

For players...everything they say will be counted as their

character saying. That is, the characters should have to say what

theyre doing, in character. Still in accent and full character

everyone has to describe their actions, and it will be treated as

if they did say it aloud. This will add a manic and strange

component to the game. Besides I like the making this a bit more

roleplaying, a bit less game.

There will be no gamemaster! The gamemaster is dead.

No. Instead the basic premise will be written down and read by

all, then the acting out of the scene will begin. And each

character will take turns drawing plothook cards from the stack.

Ok, this sounds innovative and good..but how will mechanics and

combat and all that crunchy stuff work?

I guess I need to give this some deeper thought.

I'v got it! As the plot hooks occur and the PC's act out what theyre doing, if they solve a problem in a manner that seems to be "godmoding" or "unrealistic" for their character, if that's possible in this setting, it will be challenged by one or more of the other players. Once challenged the action can be rexplained and revaluated and even changed, and if accepted by the others with a democratic vote it is allowed. If they vote against it, everyone together, including the failure and the other players all get to decide on a proper consquences and circumstances of the failure.

This could be a game. But most likely not the kinda game that most people in the community would want to play.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thus this was the phase one stage, after an hour of development. I still have 23, so don't give up hope! I'll keep on updating.

Sounds like a neat idea, but what is up with the formatting of that post? Makes my brain hurt, it does.

Formatting is posted from notepad.

Well it failed as a 24 Hour RPG, but I might keep on working on it some. Mainly, as with most my endeavors, I get the setting down pat and then have some idea for a stylish and eccentric system, which usually ends up falling flat on it's face.

Get in touch with me sometime, send me something about the setting. I've got a quick and easy system idea that I think will work... I just need a non-screwed up format file.
