Question on read/unread marks work
I've recently noticed some quirks with how the Forge remembers what I have and have not read. This morning I found myself logged off, and when I logged back on, all forums were marked as read. This has happened before. I have also noticed that at sort of random times, a forum will get marked as read, this happens most with forums I don't read often (specifically the independant game forums).
Thanks
Frank

When you log off or close your browser session, every post from that time backward gets marked "old", regardless of whether you read it or not. "New" posts accumulate, getting marked "old" when you read the thread, and being cleared again when your browser session ends.
Does this describe the behavior you're experiencing? If not, I suspect that something is going wrong.

Ok, that probably describes what's happening with the forums I don't read often, but it doesn't describe what happened to me this morning where I was logged off, and when I logged back on, everything was marked as read.

No, this has been happening to me every now and then as well, and just lately.
You close your session as usual. I generally shut down the browser without actually clicking "log out".
When you next go to The Forge, you find yourself not logged in automatically.
You log in, and click the usual "log me in" box; this then works thereafter, perhaps suggesting a possible cookie problem
When you click "log in," you find that all messages are marked "read."

This was happening to me recently as well. I deleted my cookies and it isn't happening any more. Give it a shot.
