Website Help

Hey all.

I am trying to find a web hosting company for a website I want to create for gamers in my home town. I would love some suggestions if you have any?

In my opinion, you can't get much better than http://www.dreamhost.com. The Forge, and many other sites I run, are hosted with them.

When you sign up, feel free to say that 'crnixon' sent you - the Forge will have their hosting fees lessened by a small amount each month.

I've been using Avahost. When I signed up, it was really cheap with pretty decent features, but it looks like they just boosted prices - still worth a look. I haven't had any problems with their service.

I don't have any site info up at the moment -- my computer situation is still a bit up in the air at least until next week.

However, RPGShelf.net -- my own webhosting setup -- offers webhosting for a year for $30. You get a lot of great features. I host some other folks, like:

http://twistedconfessions.com/

http://ptgamesinc.com/

Just for a few examples...

Just email me: nathan@mysticages.com if you are interested...

Thanks,
Nathan

Are you sure you need a host? It's my experience that, for a group like you're talking about, that the free services of something like Yahoogroups is perfect. http://groups.yahoo.com/

Have you considered and rejected that idea?

Actually I have considered the yahoogroup, but I'd like something more. I also have a forum that I'd like to put on it. To be honest the biggest thing I am looking for is that www.*name*.com.

So you're thinking of registering a domain name? Or just using one that devolves from the provider?

I suggest either http://www.name.com (6.99) or going to host feature and getting a host there. if you buy a year of hosting, you get a free domain name (a ".com") for as long as you stay there (it's $32.45 for a year of the silver plan) the silver plan will get you 250 MB and 10GB of bandwidth. remember to type in freedomain in the coupon box.

Can't help with a domain, but check http://www.fuitadnet.com for a host. 4.99, GREAT service, 3 gigs storage, 25 GB bandwidth, PHP, MySQL, and more ^_^
