The Pitch In Action
So, last night my weekly Tuesday gaming group met. We were about 2/3 of the way through the last part of the Freeport Trillogy and were expected to finish the scenario that evening. However, through some clever applications of various spells and abilities the party circumvented the entire last third of the adventure and finished up after about 20 minutes of play.
After some time I happened to mention Jared's game The Pitch. Everyone seemed to get really excited about the concept so we decided to play it. I've posted some of the niggling technical details we encounted down in the Memento-Mori forum but I thought I'd share the actual results of play here for people's general amusement and comments.
I'd like to note that one of my players really is a professional script writer and so has been to real pitch meetings and he says that the game basically captures the 'feel' perfectly. Similarly another player is an actor who has been in the biz long enough to also agree that this is more or less how real movies get made. Although The Pitch certainly produces far more bizare monstrosities than even Hollywood turns out.
Here is the results from the first round:
The first film turned out to be a spy thriller involving the investigation of a mysterious colony of Morphing Armored Roman Vampires that had suddenly materialized on the sunny coast of California. The Spies infiltrate the colony and steal one of the Roman ships and take it to the deepest darkest jungle and dock it in a hidden bus station with the intent of installing a cloaking device. Unfortunately the fungus growing on the bottom of the boat mutates and opens a gate summoning bug eyed monsters from pluto who steal the ship and go out to fulfill their insatiable hunger for playboy magazines, the highest concetration of which is located in Spokane, Washington. Upon entering the nearest porno shop the lead bug eyed monster catches the eye of a very attractive woman, played by Christina Ricci. Their eyes meet. It's love at first sight. But alas the two would be lovers are tragically torn apart as the porno shop is stormed by an army of bored house-wives clamoring for the new thrills the casanova bug-eyed monster can provide them.
As you can see the game results in a kind of Mad-Libs style movie and really is a blast to play. Each game takes about half an hour and I highly recommend it. We played three rounds and each film just got weirder than the last. I'll galdly post the results of the other two rounds if anyone is interested.
Other than some rules niggling (discussed in the forum bellow) the only thing the game really lacks is a 'wrap up' mechanic as all three pitches just ended up dying mid film when we ran out of tokens.

Jesse,
Sounds like a fun time. Your suggestions were right on and I'll incorporate them into a future revision.
