In September of 2002, an early conversation about how to pronounce "Universalis" resulted in the "Universe Alice" art contest. We were looking for the image that best captured the spirit of Universe Alice: Who is she, and what does she mean to you?

We decided we'd end the contest when we had 10 images. Well, it took a long time but now, finally, in January 2005 (some 28 months later) we've wound up with 11 entries and are finally able to announce:

Since its been such a long time coming I decided to throw the judging open to fans of the game. Use the poll below to vote for which of our 11 entries should receive the the $50 prize.

Unfortuneately, the software doesn't allow 11 entry Polls, so there are actually 2 separate polls. One for Entries #1-#6 and one for Entries #7-#11.

The website should be updated to all 11 entries shortly, and I intend to keep the poll open for 60 days (hey, its already been over 2 years) so please pass this on to other forums and news sites.

It's tough to choose, from the ten I can see--entry 11 shows up as a broken link for me in both Firefox and IE. Any idea what might be causing that?

I don't think that universe Alice seems like she would be a child. I voted on the first entry (seems mystical).

John Harper's image is great. It was a toss up with Pasi Backman's, but the former had more of a 'universe' feel to it.
