The back of S&S promises rules (or at least guidelines) for "Hot glances through lowered lashes." Sadly, I can’t find them. There are references to sensuousness and sexy circumstances in the descriptions of Xar, but there doesn’t seem to be any discussion of "how" as there is for terrifying beasts (Immanents p50 & Creatures p72), drifting clouds of lotus vapor (Poisons and Drugs p75), and knives in the dark (Combat p69). If it is in Setting or the Authored Roleplaying chapters, I missed it.

I bring this up because I’m still struggling to get my 7th Sea ported Sorcerer campaign going, and several of the key NPCs are women who I want to play as being both sensuous and sexy. In addition, I have a player whose kicker involves having seduced his brother’s bride (on their wedding day) and whose demon’s need is hedonism. And the other players have never shown any aversion to romance cropping up our games.

Anyway, any help is welcome, particularly pointers to appropriate parts of the rulebooks that I’ve over looked. I’ve got Soul, but haven’t finished reading it yet, so pointers to sections of that book are welcome as well.

I don't think that "Hot glances through lowered lashes" are something that rules can be applied to. I've certainly never found any rules for this. I've had to learn through field experience.

If you absolutely insist on doing academic research rather than the school of hard knocks, let me direct you to any movie with Sophia Loren or Lauren Bacall. For more literary sources, Tanith Lee produces a very readable variety of soft core smut, and the Silhoutte Romance series is also fairly easy to read. Silhouette Romances can also be picked up for little money at garage and library sales.

As for game mechanics, you could probably work something out via will rolls for seduction, and stamina rolls depending upon the outcome of the will test.

Clay, for even mentioning Bacall in the same paragraph with that hack Lee, you should lose a couple points of humanity.

It is not too off the mark to peg that phrase on the cover as Color, in combination with a lot of the bare-naked-ladies illustrated in the book. I am very tempted merely to say, "Oh, just Color," and move on.

However, that would be deceptive. The phrase is actually a hidden door in the book, in combination with a number of other phrases, examples, and implicit possibilities of the rules.

Consider the following: Destiny, Will: Love, Price: Unlucky in Love, Kickers, and the chart on the back of the character sheet. Now imagine even a single character and even one love-interest, using even one of these game elements. Consider my points about Elric, Stormbringer, and Arioch as well as those about Tomoe Gozen's cold heart, Conan in "The People of the Black Circle," and Skafloc and Frieda in "The Broken Sword."

Lust, love, relationships, and emotional needs are like the "black belt" of Sorcerer and Sword. Once you get the basics down about necromancy and fighting and beasts and so on, then shift the venue to romance, love, and heartbreak - and you'll see how much you already know.
