For anyone who missed it: optional rules on Bringing Down the Pain have been posted to the Shadow of Yesterday Wiki.

I already have a question: according to the optional "Speeding Up Bringing Down the Pain" rules,

Every time you have to make a Stay Up check, add a penalty die to your next Stay Up check. These dice are cumulative. Note that you do not have to make a Stay Up check if your damage is less than your Stay Up + 3.


... it looks like there isn't much difference between being Bloodied and being Broken. There's a change when you make the transition from one state to the next... but functionally the states themselves are pretty much identical, right?

Big difference:

When you're bloodied, take a penalty die on every action.
When you're broken, you can't take actions without spending a point from the appropriate pool, and you still take a penalty die.
