Strategicon - Los Angeles
I am going to be giving a "seminar" on role-play theory at the up coming Strategicon in Los Angeles over the Memorial Day Weekend.
I have several questions to ask.
Since I am planning to cover Creative Agenda's, I was wondering if it is ethical to mention outstanding examples of games that support a particular CA. I personally have no vested interest in any games whatsoever.
If there are no “ethical” conflicts in mentioning specific examples of games in what is basically a lecture – is there anyone here who would wish to opt out or not have their games specifically mentioned?
I am considering creating a handout and among other items I am thinking of including the names, URL’s and such pieces of information regarding stellar examples.
Finally given all this – is anyone going to be at the Strategicon and would like to coordinate in any fashion?
Again, I wish to note that I am giving this lecture purely for the “love of role-play.”
Thanks!

I think it would be odd to have a seminar on RPGs and not discuss any specific games. I'm not sure why you think there might be some ethical issue, but your opintions on what games support what styles of play are completely your own, and, as such, you should just go ahead and give them. You can't possibly say anything worse or better than what some people say at seminars about game systems. All of which I think is ethical, too.

My husband told me about the seminar he attended there and that has brought me here. He was the one with the online 3.5 D&D game called:
In The Time of Heroes http://www.inthetimeofheroes.com
From what he said I would have loved attending your seminar, since I dig all this stuff (gaming and psychology that is).
But this is a HUGE mess to come into the middle of. Any recommendations for how to get started? I've begun browsing the forums and reading the glossary and the other articles, but well -- been somewhat afraid to post. This is my first post in the forum, this location and subject seemed mostly harmless.
Its all rather intimidating trying to absorb all the information about not only game systems I am unfamiliar with but the jargon as well and attempt to appear somewhat eloquent all at the same time.
