Stranger Things DRAFT 8/6/05

Here's the new draft of the game. I changed the Injury system back to a more Trollbabe-like method. I also added the Relationships section and cleaned up the text in a few spots. Oh, and Jake's new art for Vozhu Lor is in there as an extra little treat.

Thanks, and happy playtesting!

I also added a few "thank yous" that were sorely lacking (cough)bankuei!(cough).

Is there an updated PDF? I'm doing my playtest tomorrow, and want to make sure I'm using the most up-to-date version I can.
Areas I'm interested in how they differ from the older text:

Magic - you mentioned possibly tweaking or clarifying Human Magic to compensate for the very slow setup.
Ghosts - I don't know whether a player will establish a relationship and get it killed in the one session, but i hope so!

The Ghosts rules are pretty much as they are here in the forum. No big tweaks there:

Stranger wrote: A Ghost is a dead relationship. It haunts the Stranger. It must be laid to rest. To do so, the player stakes the ghost on a situation. The player says what situation the ghost is interested in. The Director says why the ghost is interested, and what outcome it demands. If the situation comes out the right way, the ghost is free to rest, and the Stranger is no longer haunted. The dead relationship is removed from the character sheet. The player may also choose not to fulfill the demands of the Ghost once they are known. The player may stake the Ghost on a future situation in this case.

A haunted Stranger cannot form new relationships, and cannot use current relationships for re-rolls. However, the connection to the spirit world makes magic easier. A haunted Stranger can use the Ghost relationship to re-roll magic failures any number of times during a session.

I haven't done anything significant to Magic yet. However, Joe reminded me recently that the PDF fails to clarify an important point: Strangers can use both kinds of magic, human and demon. Their "style" is what they prefer to use, just like their Blood style is the way they prefer to fight -- not the only way.
