Hi all,
Anyone here familiar with the excellent comic book Donjon/Dungeon by, among others, Lewis Trondheim?
I was wondering if that kind of story could be achieved with the Donjon ruleset?
Any thoughts?
Best
Peter

Peter,

Is this the French comedy D&D-like cartoon? I've read one issue of that.

If not, tell us about it.

Yup, that very one. There are three trade paperback volumes available in English and all three are definitely worth reading; besides being brilliant satirical takes on dungeoneering and fantasy (there's a fantastic dialogue about the difference between an orc and a goblin), they are also rather engaging and moody (especially the one called The Early Years: The Night Shirt). And the comic book made me eager to try something similar with a rpg - and then I came to thinking of Donjon (also, well - it's called Donjon in French, so there...). I'm a bit unsure as to how play proceeds in Donjon - how much scope is there for other things than killing monsters and looting their treasure? I know that the game uses a collaborative narration-mechanic that empowers the players to make up facts - but I'm unsure of the ratio between DK-prep and on-the-spot creation.
In short: buy the comic, people! And - I'd be delighted to hear more about Donjon the rpg.
Thanks
Peter
