Couple of Demon Ability questions
Hi
(i) A parasite demon inhabiting a limousine... player wants Travel so the demon can drive the limo around, does it need Perception as well? I think so.
Why not an object demon? So you can change vehicles of course.
(ii) An inconspicuous hacker-demon (sometime ball of electricity) that enters computers, searches their data, maybe changes it. Warp and related Perception obviously.
What if the demon is transmitted between computers? Travel as well? Can it use the same kind of Perception for that?
What if the demon travels along power lines? That's pretty clearly Travel with a different form of Perception.
(iii) Not really a question, more of a cool player concept.
We're playing modern-day Sorcerer, Humanity is similar to sanity.
Player chooses Lore 6 (adept, mad) for his female character named Enheduanna. Price: -2 incomprehensible (spoken interactions) Kicker: Enheduanna (Cover: Atlantean High Priest) thinks she has been transported 4000 years into her own future, and unknown to her she's an exact lookalike for a major NPC. It's deliberately left open by the player, to be resolved by us jointly in play, whether or not the first part is true.
Cheers

Hi Karl!
I haven't considered Parasites to be able to inhabit non-living things ... so I think you'd be better off designing the demon as Inconspicuous, and having the "gets into car" concept be an informal limitation or restriction. Since it is not, itself, a car, then yes, it will need Travel or else it will be restricted to human walking/running speed. It should also have Transport to carry people around. I don't see any special need for it to have Perception.
I think you have the right idea about the electricity demon, and I agree that one Perception will work for both "seeing into" the computer and traveling among them, and that another Perception would be necessary for the Travel along power lines.
The only problem with the stated Kicker is that it doesn't include anything about the lookalike that has just happened to the character.
Also, as a general thing, I think sanity is a fairly poor Humanity definition, unless you specify it to types of insanity. Since they are defined specifically in terms of non-functional interactions with other people ("harm to self and others," that sort of thing), using them makes a lot more sense than generic sanity, or (real problems here) gamer-sanity based on the Cthulhu Mythos, which is nearly useless.
Best,
Ron

So a demon can always be assumed to have perceptions equal to that of a normal human being regardless of its physical manifestation? Unless specifed otherwise by GM or players, of course.

Absolutely correct. Same with movement.
