Indie Gaming at Arcon V
Bret Gillan and I (and I think Paka too) are planning on running some indie games at <a href="http://www.oswego.edu/~stg/arcon/">Arcon V in <a href="http://www.google.com/local?f=q&hl=en&q=oswego,+ny&btnG=Search&ll=43.443836,-76.497489&spn=0.753788,1.900635">upstate central New York this year. I think Bret has already put in blurbs for Capes and Polaris, and I'll probably be running some Sorcerer. I would love to have a huge indie presence there this year if possible. It's not a really big con (about 100 or so last year), but it's always been a fun one. So, let me know if any of you are interested in attending or running events.
I happen to know the guy in charge of vendors/guests (it's me), so if any of you designers out there want to come as special guests let me know. We might be a small con, but we haven't had any guests or vendors go away unhappy so far and we've been getting bigger every year.
If you have any questions for me, please ask. For those of you who don't know me I'm the guy with the camouflage jacket that was hanging around all day Saturday like a Forge fan boy. :)

Arcon V is the 2006 con and will be from the 21-23?
I'll jump in and run two games of Sorcerer and two games of Primetime Adventures.

I will definitely be running Capes and Polaris.
Bob and I have been talking about Arcon for awhile and seeing if any Forge-folks wanted to come, but I wasn't sure how large a con needs to be in order for it to be worth your while in terms of exposure and sales. Arcon had approximately 100 attendees last year, and while I'm sure a substantial amount of them were roleplayers it seemed like the primary activities were Magic: The Gathering and various board games. That may have been because the RPG offering was sparse, though.

Yes, one of the problems we had last year was getting enough people signing up to run games. We've also had a history of lots of potential players getting sucked into LARP events in the evening slots, but I don't think that's going to happen this year. I'll have to check on that.
I would love to see Indie games become a huge presence at Arcon, for this year and the ones to come. I still haven't fully decided what games I'll be running this year, but it'll probably be a Sorcerer game set in my <a href="http://www.indie-rpgs.com/forum/index.php?topic=16813.0">Heartless Void Sci Fi setting and either The Shadow of Yesterday or Burning Wheel, depending on which I feel more comfortable with. I have some learning and playtesting ahead of me.
