As evidenced by the valor and pride stats, use of Arete and Hubris has an ongoing effect on a person.

Can the immortals (that is, the Gods and the Titans) sense this effect?

Can they tell when someone primarily uses Arete, or Hubris?  Can they tell when someone has primarily Valor or Pride?

I'd think it'd be pretty bloody obvious to an immortal if someone is using Arete or Hubris. Either you're breaking their laws or you are following them, and most of them would be pretty ontop of that.

More pride or valor might be a trickier issue. I don' t know that I'd play it as being automatic, but I would certainly run it as something that influences the general reaction of immortals to archons. If you're walking around with 75 points of pride and just itching to take over a planet, the immortals are probably going to get a bit nervous, even if they can't tell exactly how much pride you've got.

I like Brand's take on it. It's pretty close to my own.

If the gods can't know when you've made The Choice, then there's little point in making it. That's the point.

But, it's not as though Apollo whips out his Pride-o-Meter and scans you. He just knows. The mechanical, numerical representations are for us, the players. We can use those as a guide to have Apollo act accordingly, and even as a guide for narration, like "Wow, you have TONS of Pride. How about when you show up on Sol, there's a whole population of folks whispering about your arrival, and maybe they even begin protesting policies from time to time?" Something like that.

Oh, yeah... I definitely agree.

Would that be unspent pride?

Hi Fred. I missed this reply of your until just now.

I mainly meant unspent Pride. However, most spent Pride is in the form of Talismans. I'd use the same guideline there -- that Primarchs would know whether something is a Talisman, and that the Talisman represents rebellion in some way.
