Secret sorcerers
One of my players wants to be a demon hunter who hates sorcerers. As envisioned, he will be a Naive sorcerer with a potent demon who he believes (incorrectly?) is a servant of Larani.
Obviously this will require that the other players not reveal their sorcery to him. I'm curious to hear from GMs who've had this dynamic in the group... it seems like a good story driver, but also has the potential for serious intra-party conflict if things break down.

By "him" did you mean the player? I think you mean the player's character... but it's not clear.

I meant the character. The other characters should not reveal their sorcery to his character - obviously the player will be aware of their actual nature (otherwise the game would be painfully cumbersome and no fun.)

Why does it need to be a secret...
Why does it need to be a break down...
Why doesn't the demon hunter who hates sorcerers...just hunt down the demons of the other player sorcerers.
There is no need for them to be a "party" in the game. It works just fine (IMO better) if all of the sorcerers are independents pursueing their own agenda.

Thank you. I flinched as I wrote "party" above since I know the idea runs counter to the game's spirit.

You know, given that one player's interest in being a demon hunter... man, that could really work. Like Ralph said, why does it have to be a break down - it's just like adding lighter fluid to the situation - thing could get hot in a good way.
I'm thinking about this and seeing the partipants manuevering and whatnot to either get out of the hunter's way, or to come after him right off the bat. Fun!

Even more fun when you have all of the sorcerer characters have incompatable agendas...how much can they really coorperate...who might try to cut a deal with the hunter to knock off a rival...oh yeah.
Some of the best sessions of any game I've played are when the players are each other's nemeses...don't even need to create a villain...just apply pressure and watch the fun.
