freeform "commie" roleplaying

Role-players of the world, unite!  You have nothing to lose but the chains the bourgeois GM's have placed on you!  Gamemastering is the opiate of the people!  Sing with me...the Player Internationale!

Arise ye gamers from your slumbers
Arise ye rollers of the die
For reason in revolt now thunders
and at last ends the GM's lie
Now away with all rail-road solutions
Servile players arise, arise!
We'll change to conflict resolution
And spurn all Force to win the prize.

CHORUS

Then come players rally
Reject the GM role with haste
The Internationale
Unites the player race.

The Gamer's Revolutionary Security Directorate (GRSD) will be around shortly to root any remaining bourgeois GM thinking.  Any copies of GURPS, D&D and other similar bourgeois propaganda found will be confiscated and may result in a trip to a reeducation camp for your own good.  Don't worry, the guns are there for your liberation!

Oh, this will not end well. :-)

Somebody's gonna start talking about "Story Tokens from each according to their ability, to each according to their need," and then ...

Man, I'll just stand over here by this pitted concrete wall and wait.  I wouldn't want to inconvenience the firing squad.

There is a certain irony to having this thread in this forum.  There are few role playing games less communist than Capes.

You may be the first one against the wall when the revolution comes today, but someday, about 20 years from now, the party theoreticians will finally acknowledge your continuing grass roots popularity and will cleanse your record, coopting your persona into Party propaganda.  This will allow you to serve the Revolution in death in ways you never could in life.  Rest easy, comrade.

Hmmmm....

Actually, Capes is a very Christian game.  "..for whoever has, to him more shall be given; and whoever does not have, even what he thinks he has shall be taken away from him."

*Luke 8:18... if anyone cares.

Hmmmm indeed.  I've observed that Capes is the closest thing I have to religion these days.   Maybe we need some holy scriptures.  Since AC started us with The Light Under a Vessel parable...

"No man, when he hath earned an inspiration, covereth it with a character sheet, or puteth it in his backpack; but spendeth it on a goal, that they which play the game may see the light of his narrative genius."

Can I get a witness?!

Which, of course, will feed right into the desire of the Capes-Religion nut-cases to have a martyr/savior.

I'm thinking our religion is just going to have blood sacrifices.  No need for martyr/savior stuff here.  We just like laying the smack down on the unrighteous.

Verily, that which thee sacrificeth shall cometh back to thee threefold in story tokens.

No self-respecting Capes disciple would ever become a martyr.  It is against the Holy Comics Code.  We might, however, gloat on it a time or three.

RE: Re: The Player Internationale!

In the beginning, God created the comic book universe.

And the book was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of its pages. And the narration of God moved upon the face of its cover.

And God said, "Event: Let there be light!"  He took a point of Justice debt from his "Godly Might" power and rolled a 6.  The comic book universe sprang into being, complete with a cool cover design.  He saw that it was good.

And God then narrated the creation of the details of the universe, the rocks, the trees, the animals, the killers robots, the alien planets, the skyscrapers with easily accessible ledges, and the sharks with lasers.  He saw that they were good.

And God said, "Event: There shall be many interesting characters in this comic book I have created."  He took a second point of Justice debt from his "Godly Wisdom" power and rolled another 6.  He saw that they were good.

And God said, "Goal: The characters of this comic book shall live in paradise and love for all eternity."  He checked off his Attitude "Godly Love" and rolled a 4.  He saw that it was good.

Now the serpent said, "This game is boring.  I will add an opposing side so that God is not playing alone."  He then got a point of Despair debt from his power "Sneaky Bastard" and rolled a 5 on the opposing side.  God and the serpent then each claimed a side.

God then staked his two points of justice debt to split his 4 into two 2's.  He then checked off his attitude of "Godly Mercy" and rolled a 5.  He saw that it was good.

But the serpent took another point of Despair debt and reacted to God's roll with his power of "Cause trouble where you least expect it", and rolled the 5 down to a 1.  God took a point of Justice debt and reacted with his power of "Godly Might" and rolled a 4.  He saw that it was good...not as good as a 5, but still good.

The serpent then staked his two points of Despair debt and split his 5 into a 2 and a 3.  He then used his "Aren't I too clever?" attitude to roll his 2 up to a 6.  The goal resolved in favor of the serpent, and God got 4 points of Justice debt shoved back in his face.  The serpent then narrated evil into the universe.

And God said, "Goddammit!  That wasn't what I had in mind at all...Oh, well, at least I get the story tokens."
