I have a simple "add-on system" for abstract space combat which could be used for any RPG in which vehicle combat does not play a large role and/or rules do not exist.
You can see it here:

I intended it to be a chance for a gaming group to "step-away" from the mechanics of their main game, and let the GM become a director and the players to become actors, if only briefly. It is obviously light hearted, and I hope that it would be fun enough for groups to incorporate different play styles within the same game session.
Do any of you folks think this kind of thing is useful? Do you think that it is feasible to have groups go from a mechanics-heavy main game into a more freestyle "diversion"? Am I a lunatic?

That's brilliant. Get it? It's a pun. On Lite-Brite. See?
Judas, man. You're a freak. Get help, but write more first.

Well.
I easily prefer that to Car Wars and Battletech combined.
Thankyou so much.
Is it a game? Definitely. Certain skills are required to win, and it produces fun.
And the next time I see someone ask for space combat rules on RPGnet, I'll point them at that. ;)

If this isn't "simulationism, exploration of color" then what is? :)
But what's with the penlights? C'mon, this is the future we're living in! You can buy real lasers for less than ten bucks.
