Hi, all!

I upgraded the forums on January 9th, which should really help with the spam nonsense we've had. There's no new features I know of to announce at this time, except some limitations on private messages. You can only send 20 an hour for now, and that may change (for the better), but it's a spam prevention feature.

If you notice a problem with the upgrade, please respond here. Thanks!

Hey, new thing you may see: the number of user accounts is rapidly falling. The upgrade has allowed me to figure out what accounts have been registered by spammers and not used for normal posting. I am eliminating these, and we've already dropped 2000 accounts, which is staggering.

I may remove all accounts that were registered more than, say, 6 months ago, and haven't posted or interacted, as these are pretty much either guests or spammers, but I'm examining all the repercussions of that before I do it.

Might just be my own network stuff, but the forums seem to be loading much, much more quickly.  Woo!

Thanks, Clinton.

What counts as interacting?

(This is probably the first time I've posted in like eight months, which is why I'm curious.)

Chris,

I meant someone who has never posted or even logged in with a verified account. I've actually eliminated those already, and hope that I've shaken out the last of the spammer accounts, although a few probably still remain.

Just a quick problem-and-fix:

After the update, The Forge stopped letting me log in, when I used Firefox. I was redirected to a page which said that my browser was set to refuse cookies (which it wasn't). Internet Explorer logged in fine.

I've fixed this by deleting the Forge cookie (by going to Options, selecting the Cookies tab, clicking View Cookies, selecting the indie-rpgs.com cookie and clicking Remove Cookie). After doing that, it signed in fine.

Hope that's of use to someone else.

Graham
