Announcing CAMP NERDLY 01 (US East Coast): Registration Live

Hey all, over at Story Games last year we threw together a totally fun (albeit cold, cause of the season) event called "Camp Nerdly". It was such a blast that we decided to do it again, this time when it was warm out.

So this year, on May 4-6, 2007 in a campsite outside of Washington DC, we're doing it again. Three days of light cabin camping, relaxation, fun, talking, and of course a huge amount of gaming is going down. We're having folks come in from all over the place (last year we even had a guest from Vancouver) for this event, so if it sounds like fun, feel free to sign up and come!

Here's the basics:

The price is $50 per person. You get:
* A cot to sleep on
* Three meals on Saturday, and Breakfast/Lunch on Sunday
* Swag, including a Camp Nerdly classic-looking camp T-Shirt
* Tons of Gaming!

You don't have to be affiliated with anyone or anything, you don't have to be buddies, cronies, or comerades with any S-Ger or Forgie or whatever. You just have to be interested in the outdoors, and playing games: We'll be throwing down everything from D&D 3E to The Latest Small Press Hippie Thing, with assuredly card and board games mixed in as well.

Here's some things to know:
* First come, first served: If you want to come, and think you can make it, sign up now. There is a limited number of spaces, and we're already 30% full with an expected 20-30 others "in the middle of considering it".
* You'll be expected to be a Good Camper, complete with some cleaning duties (especially before leaving).
* If you can't make it, we probably won't be able to refund the money (the camp fees are pretty steep, plus all the prep work).
* Families are welcome, as long as they're into gaming. If you come with your family, and your family is not into gaming, then you will most likely have one bored family. If they are into gaming, then there's going to be activities for all ages. Suggested age limit of approx 8-10 years old up to 85 (95 if grandpa has good stories). Currently we have a number of Gamer SOs and a few Gaming Families planning to come and tear it up. You don't have to be HARDCORE, but you do have to be interested in RPGs.
* No crazy wildness. While some games will undoubtedly have some cursing or mature themes, there's no alcohol allowed at the campsite, and no huge parties planned. There's also plenty of places to play, so "Demon Summoning Murder Vixens" can go down in the main gaming cabin, away from the children's area.

That's about it. Here's the relevant links:

That thread at S-G is the best way to get quick replies, but you can ask questions on this thread as well, and we'll answer any questions you may have.

Note: It's about 45-60 minutes away from Washingtun DC, and hence Dulles Intl Airport. It's RIGHT off the highway, so hard to miss, if you're thinking of flying in and getting a Rent-A-Car.  If you are flying in and are looking for a ride from someone in the DC area, please post to the S-G Q&A thread above, or make arrangements with a DCer or fellow interested member.

Thanks!

Just to clarify, it won't be gaming all the way down - at least a few non-gaming events are planned, like an improv workshop, a talent show, and a hike.  Feel free to sign up and volunteer to organize others.  If your family is self-directed and enjoys being out of doors, they could probably have a nice time.  But the focus is definitely on playing games!  So be responsible, don't just drag anybody along, but Nerdly is definitely a family-friendly event.

Not to bump this out of the park, but just a reminder that there's one week left to sign up.  If you're coming, tell us _now_!
