I'm in a bit of a pickle, and could use some advice if anyone is able.

I had originally intended to run my upcoming DitV game with minimal supernatural activity. However, one of my players has said that he'd only be interested in playing it if there is high supernatural content.

I'm concerned that turning up the paranormal aspects of the game may make it easier for my players to ignore the moral dilemmas and nuances of the setting.

Really, I'm very much not in an ideal situation here - one of my players has confessed that he's not interested in playing a western (due to prejudice against the cinematic western) but he'll play if I think he'll enjoy it.

So, yes, maybe I've rambled, but it's late and I'm feeling a bit floored by having to reimagine my game structure. Primarily I'm hoping you guys can suggest ways to include a lot of the supernatural while keeping the grey areas and themes of the game in the forefront.

Nothing to it: follow the rules, and include a lot of the supernatural. A high-supernatural game isn't any more morally cut and dried than a low-supernatural game.

Hey Tom, think about Unforgiven. Identifiable villains, lots of violence - but not, by any stretch, a morally simple movie. Think about Fargo and Last Man Standing. Violence - and the supernatural - are strengths of the game. Don't shy away from the good stuff.

I think I'm just not quite making towns properly yet. As you can see, I updated my first town, but still feel like the situation is too morally cut-and-dried. I suppose the supernatural is not to blame for that, but in many ways I feel that the further along the path to Hate & Murder I go during town creation, the less nuanced my town becomes. I think that's perhaps why I was so loathe to include the supernatural stuff in my game.

Thanks for taking me seriously here.

Town creation is only one of three sources of moral nuance in the game, and it's the least of the three. The other two are the decisions the NPCs make after play starts and the decisions the PCs make after play starts.

I don't recommend doing any planning at all for the other two. They'll happen.
