The rule outline says a couple of times:
Bad: 1d61d8; good: 2d6 (e.g. assigning dice to relationships, assigning dice to traits)
Is that supposed to be Bad 1d6, Good 1d8, Supernatural 2d6?

That's the "assign dice only of one size" rule. It's against the rules ("bad") to assign mixed dice to a trait or relationship. 2d6 is legal, for example, while 1d6 1d8 is illegal, for example.
The exception is supernatural things (like guns in Dogs), which always get an additional d4.
It's going to be very difficult (likely impossible) for you to play the game from the online outline, if you aren't already familiar with Dogs in the Vineyard's rules.

Thanks, I was misreading intent - thinking the "Bad" "Good" were descriptors of levels having different sized dice.
I've got DitV (and love it, of course) and grokked the "all same size" rule from it.
