Hello everyone. My names Joe and I'm about to start running a game for a few friends of mine over my messageboard. The theme everyone decided on was ww2, superscience but no magic, occult, zombies, and fighting nazis. Kinda like hellboy but w/o the ACTUAL magic, just investigation of POSSIBLE magic. These guys are basically into frag fests, and they are new at role-playing, so I want to use d20 system. My question: Is there already a system for something like this genre, or will I just have to mod the crap out of d20 modern?
Thanks a lot,
Joe

Why not use the Hellboy RPG? That would seem to give you everything you want right there, except you can cut out the more overtly magical stuff if you like. It runs on the GURPS Lite rules, which are included with the book, along with lots of source material. I'm no big fan of GURPS, but I think you'll find it easier to use than trying to mod d20 to do what you want.

Thats a good idea, but unfortunately my players are not avid gamers, (they've only played once before) and to ask them to learn a new system seems like something they wouldnt be into. I wonder if they have a hellboy mod for d20?

I think they do, but my question is: if you're ok with asking them to learn a new setting where the familiar system's rules will be applied in ways that are unfamiliar, how much more difficult would it be to try a new system where the rules will be applied in a way that is unfamiliar, yet designed to make sense?
