A while back, I purchased these playing cards that were designed to look like 17th c. cards. I found a company on line that sells them, but they claim that they are 16th c. playing cards:

The backs are blank and there are no numbers on them (just that many spades, hearts, etc.). On the package that wrapped the cards it has this "sultan" looking guy and says "Great Mogul. 1. Hardy Card Maker to his Majesty & the Prince of Wales."
Does anyone know what playing cards looked like in the 19th c. because I thought this would be a neat prop.

I have a deck that is a reproduction of a Grover Cleveland presidential campaign promotional deck from 1888 a friend of mine got me once.

The 1886 Poker Deck from U.S. Games Systems, Inc. looks a lot like my deck (although, I do not know if theirs' has blank backs). The Civil War Illuminated Poker Deck is really nice, BUT Grover Cleveland deck is even better. I did not see a price for that, do you know how much the Grover deck is?

I have the 1864 Poker Deck Hans linked to (second to last link in his post). It has an excellent feel for Dust Devils. It's only downside is that it has square corners, which explains why they round the corners of modern-day decks. The corners tend to bend slightly and make shuffling more difficult.
