Help with a Website

Ok I'm getting to the point where I'd like to get a nice website up to help me publicize my Ember project as I trudge toward publishing it.  I won't be setting it up immediately but since it seems to take a while to track people down sometimes I figured I'd start looking around for someone, Graphic Designer for example, to help me get my site put together once I'm ready to get started on it.  Please contact me with some examples of your work so we can discuss the project and figure out pricing, thank you.

If I were in your boots, I'd start with trying to get somebody to make the site for me for free, really. No, actually: I'd start by learning to do it myself, which I did. But anyway, solution number two would be to try to trade services and/or social benefits to get somebody to do it for free. Paying for web design is for dull projects nobody likes or when you're using somebody else's money. If the game itself is any good, there should be a bored teenager and/or nerd somewhere willing to whip up a quite nice site for negligible costs, just for the sake of helping you get that good game out there. Try all the nephews first, for example. Or trade web-design for proof-reading, or whatever you're good for yourself.

Of course there is certain value in paying through the nose (makes you feel more professional, at least), so if that's the plan, never mind me. Paying might also be good for reliability in updating the site, although I wouldn't count on that without a personal relationship or a professional company backing it up. paying for it might also be necessary if you need highly involved and complex set-ups on the site, like customized forum skins or a cash register setup, and don't happen to have an immediate relative who works with that kind of thing.

Of course, I know nothing about your conditions here. Just pointing this out in case you were under the impression that a solid, good-looking web-site needs to be bought with real money. In my experience that is only true for dull businesses that nobody wants to help anyway.

John

I'm actually looking for somebody to share a hosting server with at the moment.  Right now I can make it doable at $15/month with the following features:

1. Professional content management system (Drupal).

2. Full ecommerce package with automatic PayPal integration and electronic product fulfillment.  Other payment options are also available, that's just what I'm currently using.

3. Your own forums

4. Blogging

5. Spam filtering

6. Email newsletters

7. Ready access to somebody who understands how to use this ecommerce system

8. Spam-filtered email addresses for your team, with webmail, IMAP or POP3 access.

What I can't do is your web design for you.  But there are a number of pre-built templates available, and I can set it up so that you or your designer can change the stylesheets, which will let you change the appearance of the site.
