Polaris is designed to be played over multiple sessions, but fun can still be had with it in a single session, by upping the amount of experience the protagonists get from each scene
can you do that with MLWM, or is it strictly a multi-session game?

In my experience, My Life With Master is very well suited for single session play. A few things to keep in mind: Start out with higher Reason than Fear. Also, I usually let the characters have a couple of relationships from the get go. This way you ought to be able to play a successful and complete game in a single session.
